Helping out in Lions Club Peace Poster Competition

       This Lions Club peace poster competition was organized by our Sponsoring Lions Club, Lions Club of Miri Mandarin to increase awareness on world peace. On the 6th of October 2013, our Leos went along with the Lions to the event to help them.

       Eight Lions Clubs in Region 3, Zone 8 and Zone 9 came together to organize a Joint Peace Poster Contest with the theme ‘Imagine Peace’ at MYY Mall on Oct 7.

       The eight clubs are Lions Club of Miri Host, Lions Club of Miri Central, Lions Club of Marudi Mandarin, Lions Club of Miri Mandarin, Lions Club of Miri Resort City, Lions Club of Batu Niah, Lions Club of Lambir Miri and Lions Club of Lutong Miri.

       These Lions clubs proudly sponsored the Lions International Peace Poster Contest in local schools and youth groups. This art contest for kids encourages young people worldwide to express their visions of peace.

       The peace poster contest is one of the major projects held on a yearly basis by Lions Clubs International. The mission was to create awareness and understanding amongst children at a young age on the meaning of ‘world peace’.

       The Lions and our Leos went to the mall to provide the contestants with help and services throughout the competition, such as the registration, preparing art supplies for the competition and many more.

This very special project was organized for the following objectives:

1. To create awareness and understanding amongst children at a young age on the meaning of ‘world peace’.
2. To express young artists’ life experiences and culture.
3. To help the world to maintain its peace
4. To educate the public on the importance of taking world peace issues seriously. 
5. To increase the bond between fellow Leos and Lions.
