September 8 was proclaimed International Literacy Day by UNESCO on November 17, 1965. It was first celebrated in 1966. Its aim is to highlight the importance of literacy to individuals, communities and societies. On International Literacy Day each year, UNESCO reminds the international community of the status of literacy and adult learning globally. Celebrations take place around the world.
On behalf of the International Literacy Day , our school Leo Club had prepared books & stationary worth more than RM 3000 to the school library. It is our Leo Club mission & vision to build up the school library.
It is our job to create awareness to student about the important of reading and most important study in our life . Meanwhile , we should also appreciate that we could study in school especially girls . We have to know that they are many people around the world who cannot afford to study and buy books all around the world . For girls , we should know that many young little girls in some poor country like Pakistan and Africa can't go to study because of the tradition of the society . But no matter you are boy or girl , if you have the opportunity to study , please thank your parents about that .
You must always remember , everything can be taken away from your life , but only knowledge can't be taken away from you . Knowledge will be your sharpest and the most powerful weapon in your future.
Our Leo Club member spend a lot of time on choosing some books and stationary on behalf the International Literacy Day . We hope to build up our school library and make our library a better place to everyone.
Leos , let us work together to make the society a better place. ROAR ROAR ROAR !!
Yours in Leo Spirit
