being able to read and write,
One of the Leo Club Faculty advisors, Lion

our students to be global citizens and to be aware of projects & activities
celebrated all over the world. One example is this celebration of International
Literacy Day.
RRSS students should be grateful that they
are literate. Thus, they should enjoy reading books. Therefore, the Leo Club’s
vision and mission is to help build up their school library.
Donation of books and other items to the
school library is not limited to International Literacy Day only. Books,
magazines and other items are also donated at other times of the year. Money
from the Leo Club’s sale of old newspapers ( ONP ) is the majore sourse of
funds for the Leo Club to purchase books and other items like a computer,
stationeries and whiteboards etc …
Upon the advice of RRSS CEO Dato Dr Fong
Onn Min & RRSS A.CEO Miss Chan Siew Ngo, the Leo Club has been carrying out
monthly interclass collection of old newspaper competition since 2011.
This ONP collection project is under the
guidance of RRSS Leo Club school Faculty Advisor , Madam Yeoh Ban Kheng @ Lion

Liong .
Organsing chairperson, Ashleigh May Lim ,
informed that in this way, an educational project ( Donation of books and
stationaries for the school library ) is undertaken while the
enviroment through recycling of old newspapers is also taken care of.
She also attributed RRSS students’ love of
books and enviroment to RRSS CEO Dato Dr Fong Onn Min’s constant reminder
during weekly assemblies of the importance of reading and caring for the
enviroment.
