International Literacy Day Project 2013

Our Leo Club donated RM 2194.79 worth of books to the school's library in conjunction with International Literacy Day which was celebrated on September 8th worldwide. Our Leo club is always determined to push up literacy among the students by providing reading materials such as book magazines and so forth to school library.

"It is our club's vision and mission to help build up the school library by equipping more books and magazines for the students' convenience and benefit. They should be grateful that they are literate, thus they must utilize their literacy wisely and enjoy reading books and the other related materials provided," Ashley Wee.

Wee was the organizing chairperson for the International Literacy Day under the guidance pf the club faculty advisors Diana Yeoh Ban Kheng, Lily Wong and Ling Kiew Liong. Wee said proceeds from the sale of ONP was the major source of funds for the Leo Club to purchase books and other items like a computer, a whiteboard, a microphone and an amplifier set and a Malaysian wall map for the school library.

During the event, the members of the project chose carefully books from all three major languages of our country so the books were appropriate for the students. The teachers then checked the books so that they were suitable to encourage reading among students.
